FLINT – The Guelph Storm scored three power play goals and Brayden Gillespie made 26 saves in a 3-2 victory over the Flint Firebirds Saturday night in Flint.
Brayden Bowman had two of the power play goals, ripping a pair of one-timers from his off-wing on set-ups from Jett Luchanko. His second goal, with 18 seconds left in the second period, proved to be the game-winner.
Jake Karabela had the other Storm goal, tipping a Michael Buchinger wrist shot from the point.
Buchinger and Luchanko each had three assists in the game.
The game featured a wild ending, with Gillespie making key saves with the Firebirds goaltender on the bench for the extra attacker.
There was also a stretch of about 20 seconds where Gillespie played without his trapper, which had fallen off during a goalmouth scramble.
The Storm had 24 shots on Flint goaltender Jacob Brown.
Guelph plays in Niagara Sunday in a 6 p.m. start.
