PETERBOROUGH – Patrick Leaver made 40 saves and Max Namestnikov's second period goal stood up as the winner as the Guelph Storm downed the Peterborough Petes 5-3 Sunday afternoon in Peterborough.

It gave the Storm a two-out-of-three weekend and moved them into sixth place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of the Flint Firebirds and two points back of fifth place Saginaw.

The score was 2-2 after one period and 4-3 after two.

Namestnikov's winner came at 15:51 of the second on the power play, potting home a rebound of a Braeden Bowman chance. It was Namestnikov's 20th goal of the season.

Chandler Romeo iced the win with an empty net goal with 53 seconds left on the clock.

Valentin Zhugin, Ben McFarlane and Charlie Paquette had the other Storm goals.

The Storm plays in Sarnia on Wednesday night, then hosts Saginaw on Friday. They are in Oshawa Saturday and home to Owen Sound Monday afternoon.
