A pair of local lacrosse stars are celebrating after being taken high in the National Lacrosse League draft on the weekend.

Guelph's Dylan Watson was taken second overall by the expansion Las Vegas Desert Dogs and Puslinch's Tye Kurtz went 17th overall by the Albany FireWolves.

Both players are wrapping up their collegiate careers south of the border.

Watson had 58 goals in 17 games for the Georgetown Hoyas and Kurtz had 52 goals in 17 games for the Delaware Blue Hens.

Kurtz's Blue Hens lost in the quarter-finals of the NCAA championship tournament after eliminating the second-ranked Hoyas in the previous round.
