Storm can't recover from horrible start

Falls behind 5-0 in the first period to Flint in a 9-5 road loss

FLINT – The Guelph Storm fell behind 5-0 in the first period then skidded to a 9-5 loss to the Flint Firebirds Saturday night.

Jacob Oster started in net and got the hook after four goals. Dixon Grimes allowed the other five. Flint outshot Guelph 35-26.

Niko Minkkinen had his first two OHL goals for Guelph, with Cedrikson Okitundu, Ben McFarlane and Valentin Zhugin scoring the others.

Guelph went one for six on the power play.

The Storm is now 4-10-2-0 on the season, dead last in the Western Conference.

Guelph plays in North Bay Thursday, Sudbury Friday then home to Sarnia on Sunday.
