OWEN SOUND – Braeden Bowman scored with 3:43 left in the third period to give the Guelph Storm a 3-2 victory over the Owen Sound Attack Wednesday night.

With the faceoff deep in Owen Sound territory, the Attack appeared to win the draw, but Bowman somehow stole the puck in the circle then made a quick move before wristing the game-winner past Carter George.

Owen Sound had several chances to tie it with the goalie pulled, including dinging the post on one occasion, but Guelph was able to pull it out.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the locals.

The win moves the Storm into third place in the Western Conference, although they have two games in hand on London and four in hand on Saginaw, who are tied for fourth.

Goals by Max Namestnikov and Charlie Paquette gave Guelph a 2-0 lead by midway through the second period, but Owen Sound got a pair in an 88-second span late in the period to tie it up.

Brayden Gillespie was rock solid in the Storm net, making 29 saves.

Tommy Budnick, acquired Tuesday from Kingston, made his debut on the Guelph blueline.

Michael Buchinger did not make Team Canada and will be back with the Storm this weekend when they wrap up the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule with a pair of home games – Friday against Peterborough and Saturday afternoon against Sault Ste. Marie.
