You could soon have a cold one closer to the action at a Guelph Gryphons hockey game.
A liquor licence application has been filed by the University of Guelph's hospitality department, as it looks to licence the gold rink "for big events."
"We don't really know which way it'll go, but it has been something that had been requested in the past from people," said Lisa Tersigni-Holt, hospitality services lead at U of G.
"And because we have the restaurant there, it works well. It would be just an addition to the restaurant licence that's already there, and they would serve (and) look after that as well."
Discussions haven't really happened yet, but expect to pick up if the licence is approved.
It would centre around which type of event would have the licence, but at the moment, it would just be varsity games.
"Then, we would look at what areas are licensed," she said. "The entire space wouldn't be licensed.
"We would still have areas that would be non-licensed for families and people who didn't want to be in that area. It'll probably just be a small section or whatnot."
