In an ongoing series, we profile one our GuelphToday editorial team so you know a bit more about who is providing you with your news.

Q: Where were you born?

Stockport, England. Basically a suburb of Manchester. Moved to Canada when I was 10.

Q: What drew you to journalism as a career?

I started writing reviews of record albums (remember those?) when I was a student at the University of Waterloo and realized I really enjoyed the freedom and  being able to express myself without too many rules.

Q: Any favourite spots in Guelph?

Oh there's plenty: Planet Bean downtown, the Albion patio on a summer day, the Enabling Garden at Riverside Park, brunch at Park Grocery, choosing which great Indian restaurant to get takeout from, and, my happy place, The Sleeman Centre on Guelph Storm game night.

Q: Best part of the job?

Every single day is different and I get to meet all kinds of interesting people.

Q: Worst part of the job?

The sad stories. The tragedies. The trolls. The unreasonable people. Moderating comments on Facebook.

Q: Cats or dogs?

Dogs all the way. But, alas, allergies ....

Q: Favourite binge-worthy show?

Ozark, Barry, Derry Girls, Queen's Gambit, The Office, still love M.A.S.H. and I rarely miss The Goldbergs.

Q: Read much?

Not as much as I should or would like to. Usually non-fiction sports during vacation time.

Q: Dream vacation?

Vietnam, China, India. But not the big cities.

Q: Working from home. Good or bad?

Can't do it. I'm too easily distracted.

Q: Three people from history you’d like to have dinner with?

Alexander The Great, Babe Ruth, Charlie Chaplin.

Q: Name something cool about Guelph?

Hillside. I avoided it for years, but after going realized it's one of the most friendly, positive vibes I've ever been around.

Q: If you weren’t a reporter you would be a …?

House painter. I love painting and love seeing a finished work and saying 'I did that.'

Q: Food that brings back childhood memories?

Custard or rice pudding. Brings back memories of visits to my grandparents.

Q: What’s something you’d like readers to know about your job?

It's never personal.
