STUTTGART, Germany — Canadian Ana Padurariu captured the all-around silver medal at the Stuttgart World Cup gymnastics event Sunday.

Padurariu, of Whitby, Ont., amassed 55.132 points to finish behind American Simone Biles (58.800). German Elizabeth Seitz (54.399) was third.

Padurariu, 16, started the competition with a score of 13.533 on the fault that left her tied for last heading into the uneven bars. She moved up to fourth overall posting a score of 14.066 in that discipline before jumping into the medal race on the beam.

There, Padurariu posted a top score of 14.333 in an event she won a silver medal in at last year's world championship. Padurariu cemented her second-place finish with a 13.200 score on floor.

"This was such an awesome experience," she said. "The crowd was amazing, the equipment was good, everything about it was such a good experience and it was just great competing out there.

"The highlight today for me was floor and beam. Staying on the beam is always a plus, and I loved competing this floor routine and having so much fun out there."

The World Cup event was Padurariu's first but she said she didn't really battle nerves.

"I wasn't as nervous as I thought," she said. "I was really happy about that because I know I've worked really hard with my coaches to be able to just go out there and do what I do in training."
