Accused of committing fraud, man allegedly gives false name when confronted by Guelph Police

On Oct. 11, 2019 at approximately 4 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a financial institution on the west side of the city, where there was a report of a fraud in progress. It is alleged the suspect was using fraudulent identification in an attempt to get a loan. Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect.

During the arrest process, the accused gave police a fraudulent name. Through investigation, the identity of the accused was learned and it was discovered he was wanted by the Toronto Police Service.

The 43-year-old Toronto man was charged with fraud over $5,000, personation with intent, utter forged document, possession of identity documents and obstruct police. He was held for a bail hearing.
