A Guelph woman faces a weapons charge after reportedly waving a small knife around, “yelling and aggressively gesturing at passersby” on Monday morning, say police.

Responding to calls at about 7:10 a.m. police located a woman described by witnesses in the area of the Gordon Street bridge over the Speed River. When officers arrived, explains a Guelph Police Service news release, a woman was hiding her hand inside her sweater. Asked by police if she had any weapons, she removed her hand to reveal she was holding a yellow utility knife.

A 28-year-old Guelph woman is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
