A Kitchener male has been arrested following the theft of approximately $10,000 worth of lumber from a Guelph business earlier this year.

Approximately 4 a.m. on April 11, 2021, someone used a pickup truck to force open the gates to a compound at a business on Wellington Street West. The suspect loaded a large amount of lumber into the truck’s bed before driving away. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

Investigation revealed the pickup had been stolen a day earlier from Waterloo Region. A suspect was identified and on Friday a 36-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with break and enter, possessing stolen property over $5,000 and prohibited driving.

He was held in custody with a bail hearing set for Oct. 8.
