ATM discovered in pickup truck on fire was indeed stolen

On July 30, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Guelph Police were called to a residential address on Gordon Street for a report of a vehicle on fire in a parking lot. Police arrived and observed the front end of a white GMC Sierra pickup truck engulfed in flames. The Guelph Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. Through investigation it was learnt that the vehicle was allegedly stolen and that the vehicle had an ATM machine attached to a chain in the box of the truck. There are no known injuries as a result of the incident.

On July 30, 2018 at approximately 6:15 a.m., a concerned citizen alerted Guelph Police of what appeared to be a break and enter in a plaza on Harvard Road. The entire front door and window area of the unit were destroyed in addition to the walls within the unit. Police arrived and through investigation it was revealed that an ATM machine had been stolen.

On July 30, 2018 at approximately 6:45 a.m., Guelph Police received a call for a report of a stolen vehicle. A white GMC Sierra pickup truck, matching the exact description of that in the suspicious vehicle fire, was reported to have been stolen sometime between 11 p.m. on Friday July 27, 2018 and 6:30 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 out of a department store parking lot on Stone Road West.

Through investigation, Guelph Police have established a connection between the three separately reported incidents: the suspicious vehicle fire, the break and enter and the stolen vehicle.
