Guelph police say staff of a downtown bank saved a Guelph senior from falling victim to a grandparent scam on Thursday.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the assistant manager of a bank called police. An 86-year-old client was attempting to withdraw $6,000 and did not believe bank staff that she was being scammed.

An officer attended and offered advice. The cash was not withdrawn.
