A Guelph woman faces charges after her birthmark confirmed her true identity Tuesday.

Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Guelph Police Service officers were patrolling downtown when they spotted a female known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. The woman provided a false name and date of birth, but was later correctly identified through photos in the police database.

She was arrested for obstructing police and while in custody continued to provide the same false name. Her true identity was confirmed using descriptors on file, including a birthmark.

A 34-year-old woman was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
