A Guelph man faces impaired driving charges after he was stopped during Wednesday’s winter storm.
Just before 4 p.m. police were contacted by staff of a Gordon Street business, who advised a possible impaired driver had just left. Officers attended the address of the registered owner and a short time later observed a vehicle turning into the driveway.
Officers spoke to the driver and detected an odour of alcoholic beverage as well as signs of impairment. After failing a roadside breath test the male was arrested and transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 54-year-old man is charged with impaired driving. His driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
