Guelph police arrested three motorists for impaired driving on the weekend, including two caught in Canada Day RIDE programs.

Officers set up RIDE spot checks at several locations Saturday night. Two drivers were arrested after failing roadside breath tests, and further testing at the police station confirmed they had more than the legal amount of alcohol in their system.

A 33-year-old Guelph man and 25-year-old Guelph man are each charged with impaired driving.

Approximately 12:25 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a gas station in the city’s west end. An employee reported a vehicle had reversed and struck a fuel pump and the driver then appeared to fall asleep. Officers arrived and found the driver still asleep and detected an odour of alcoholic beverage.

A 25-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving.
