Guelph police are investigating after a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle for sale at a local dealership.

An employee called police Saturday afternoon to report the theft. Video surveillance showed two suspects arriving at the business, in the area of Elmira Road North and Malcolm Road, approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday. They used a tool to cut off the converter valued at approximately $1,200.

Police services across North America have reported steep increases in the theft of the exhaust components during the past year.
