Tuesday around 4 p.m. a Guelph police officer was conducting a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on the Hanlon Expressway near Speedvale Avenue West.

During the traffic stop, a man drove a motor vehicle past the traffic stop at a high rate of speed, failing to slow down or move to the left, and passed very close to the parked police cruiser, police report. The vehicle was also observed partially driving on the unpaved shoulder and then steered into the centre lane.

A traffic stop was conducted and police spoke with driver. He ultimately failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

A 30-year-old Guelph man has been charged with impaired driving and fail to slow down and proceed with caution for an emergency vehicle.
