A Guelph man faces a number of charges after an early morning coffee run with his roommate’s car went awry.
Police were called to a single-vehicle collision in the area of Edinburgh Road and Youngman Drive shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday, explains a news release.
Upon investigation, officers learned the driver was moving his roommate’s car so he could put out his waste bins when he decided to take the car to get a coffee.
Along the way, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.
As a result, a 23-year-old Guelph man is charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, careless driving and being a novice driver with alcohol in his system.
Also, his driver’s license was automatically suspended for three days after he registered a warning on a roadside breath test.
