A London couple face several charges after a stolen vehicle was used to ram two Guelph police cruisers Saturday.

Police report that just after 9 p.m., an officer was patrolling on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street when he saw a Toyota 4Runner in the parking lot of a business. Investigation revealed the SUV had been reported stolen from London earlier this month.

As officers pulled into the parking lot, the driver of the SUV attempted to flee and drove into two cruisers. The occupants then exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. A female passenger was arrested immediately, while the male driver was arrested nearby following a short foot pursuit. No injuries were reported.

A 32-year-old London man and 49-year-old London woman are jointly charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and occupying a stolen vehicle. The man is also charged with dangerous driving and flight from police, and both face several counts of breaching court orders.

The man was held for a bail hearing Monday while the woman will appear in court in January.
