Three Toronto men face charges after reportedly stealing a large amount of product from several Guelph businesses this week.

Guelph police were able to identify the affected businesses because one of the suspects was wearing a court-ordered monitoring bracelet which tracks his movements.

An employee of a business on Eramosa Road called police approximately 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to report a man leaving the store with stolen items. Officers arriving on scene located a vehicle matching a description provided by store staff and conducted a traffic stop.

Stolen property from several Guelph businesses including expensive meats and cheeses and clothing items were located in the vehicle. The stolen merchandise is valued at more than $3,800.

A 56-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, all from the Toronto area, are each charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of possessing property obtained by crime.

The 56-year-old man was found to be breaching a conditional sentence order and was held for a bail hearing Friday. Conditions of the order included that he wear a GPS-enabled bracelet and obey a form of house arrest.

The other two men will appear in a Guelph court Feb. 28.
