Crime of the Week: Jewelry taken during distraction theft

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 4, 2023, a resident of Vancouver Drive in Guelph had their jewelry stolen in a distraction theft.

The resident was working in their yard when they were called over by two people in a vehicle who stopped in front of the house. The victim went over and spoke to them. The female passenger placed a bracelet on the victim’s wrist as well as a necklace around their neck. While doing so, the female was able to remove the victim’s bracelet and necklace without the victim realizing.

The driver is described as male, brown skin, approximately 60 years of age, a heavy build, and short black hair. The female passenger is described as approximately 50 years of age, brown skin, short dark hair, and a heavy build. The vehicle is described as a newer black pickup similar to a Ram.
