Driver charged with impaired in October crash near Lake Belwood

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Oct. 19, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Sumac Street near Lake Belwood. Initial reports indicated that a driver had lost control and collided into an out-building.

OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service and Centre Wellington Fire Rescue Services responded. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. As a result of the investigation, Danny Kaul, 31-years-old of Brampton has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Jan. 14, 2020. If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drugs or alcohol, please call 911 immediately.
