Driver faces various charges in separate incidents

The separate incidents led to two vehicles being seized as well as a careless driving charge, two counts of suspended driving and speeding

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On June 18, 2019, at approximately 9:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a driving complaint on Wellington Road 38 north of the City of Guelph.

Officers responded and located the subject vehicle in a ditch along Highway 6. The vehicle, a silver Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) had been involved in a single vehicle, roll-over. The driver had sustained minor injuries and investigation revealed that the driver was suspended.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On June 19, 2019, at approximately 2:15 a.m. an OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Tower Street South in the Town of Fergus. The officer observed a white sedan travelling at a speed that appeared to be above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 125 km/h.

29-year-old Matthew Kyle Abel of Fergus has been charged with careless driving, suspended driving (two counts) and speeding. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Sept. 4, 2019. Both vehicles were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
