Drug and weapons charges for Guelph man

Police HEAT and tactical units raid house in Willow/Edinburgh area

A 50-year-old Guelph male faces drug and weapons charges after police executed a search warrant Friday afternoon at a residence in the area of Willow Road and Edinburgh Road North.

Members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) made the arrest after receiving information the male was trafficking in controlled substances. A search of the male uncovered quantities of what is believed to be fentanyl and cocaine. A search of the residence uncovered various pills including codeine, Percocet and hydromorpohone, a small quantity of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine and a large jar of dried cannabis. Officers also recovered a functioning conducted energy weapon and a bottle of pepper spray.

The drugs are believed to have an approximate street value of $6,580.

The male is charged with five counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of stolen property valued over $5,000 and several weapons charges.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing on the weekend.
