As part of project Safe Semester, the Guelph Police Traffic and School Safety Unit conducted safety initiatives and selective enforcement at a number of schools throughout the city.

Between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Victoria Road North near St. Patrick Catholic School.  Police issued 5 speeding tickets for speeds varying between 62 km/hr and 71 km/hr in a 40 km/hr zone.

In the afternoon, Officers concentrated on the schools zones in the area of Grange Road and McCray Boulevard.   No speed infractions were observed which was very nice to see.  However, several warnings were handed out for drivers disobeying signs such as No Parking, No Stopping and No U Turns.

Parents are reminded to keep safety in mind and be mindful of all traffic direction in school zones.
