A Guelph man was arrested and had his friend’s vehicle impounded for 45 days after he was caught Thursday evening driving while prohibited.

Guelph police say that approximately 8:20 p.m. officers were patrolling in a residential parking lot near Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue West. As a vehicle came into officers’ view the driver turned off all the lights and parked in an erratic fashion.

Officers left the parking lot but maintained a view of the vehicle, which a short time later was started and driven out of the lot. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined the driver had been prohibited from driving just six days earlier due to a criminal conviction.

A 39-year-old Guelph man is charged with driving while prohibited and driving while suspended.  He will appear in a Guelph court February 21, 2023. The vehicle, which is registered to a female, was impounded for 45 days.
