A 35-year-old Guelph man is facing multiple charges after a random stabbing at a licensed establishment over the weekend.

Police were called to an establishment on Silvercreek Parkway North just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, where a man was found suffering from a serious injury. The suspect fled the scene, and police say the two were not known to each other.

Police say the victim, who was stabbed in the neck, was rushed to a trauma centre. The injury is considered serious but not life threatening.

The suspect was later identified, and was arrested outside his home just after 2 a.m.

He faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
