A Guelph man was among 107 individuals charged as part of Project Maverick, a province-wide child pornography and exploitation investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The unnamed 38 year old is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, agreement or arrangement – sexual offence against child and counselling offence not yet committed.

He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 9.

Project Maverick was a month-long investigation in October that resulted in 168 search warrants, 1,032 devices seized and a total of 428 charges laid.

OPP say that 61 alleged victims were identified and referred to appropriate community-based resources for assistance, while an additional 60 children were safeguarded. There are still 175 ongoing investigations where additional charges may be laid.

One person from Kitchener and four from Cambridge were also among those arrested.

The investigations continue and anyone with information on these or any child exploitation investigations are asked to contact their local police. Report any instances of online child abuse to police or cybertip.ca. If a child is being harmed, call 9-1-1.
