Guelph man charged in connection with attempting to steal parts off cars

The initial call said people were attempting to remove car parts from a vehicle

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On March 22, 2022, at approximately 6 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible theft in progress at a business on Highway 6, Marden. Initial reports indicated that unknown persons were attempting to remove car parts from a vehicle.

Officers attended the scene and located two individuals.

As a result of the investigation, Aaron Guthrie, 47 years old of Guelph, has been charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000 - two counts
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of break-in instrument
  • Failure to comply with undertaking - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph.
