Guelph student taken for $6,000 in rental scam: police

Guelph police report that an 18-year-old woman was taken for $6,000 in a rental scam.

Police say the victim contacted police Thursday to report the loss.

She had been communicating via email with someone she believed to be a male renting out a downtown condo. The victim sent a total of $6,000 via e-transfer before the subject stopped communicating with her.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
