Guelph woman charged with ramming police cruiser in stolen vehicle

As Police attempted to box a stolen vehicle in, the accused drove straight into a marked cruiser in an attempt to flee

On Oct. 23, 2018 at approximately 2:55 p.m., members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit were on patrol in the area of Farquhar Street where they observed a stolen vehicle parked in the GO station with a female driver in the driver seat.

Police activated their lights and attempted to box the stolen vehicle in. At this point, the stolen vehicle drove straight into the marked police cruiser in an attempt to flee. An officer got out of the passenger side and a taser was deployed as the female tried to reverse the vehicle and escape. The female was arrested without further incident.

Ashley Lauzon, a 23-year-old Guelph female, was arrested for several offences in relation to this incident.

Lauzon was also wanted for three separate incidents. On Sept. 18, 2018, Lauzon was wanted for theft under $5,000, and breaching her Probation Order. On Sept. 27, 2018 she was wanted for flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and theft under $5,000. On Sept. 29, 2018, she was wanted for Breach Probation, and theft under $5,000.

Lauzon is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 24, 2018.
