Guelph woman faces 23 criminal charges

A Guelph woman faces nearly two dozen charges after an ongoing investigation into property crimes in the City of Guelph.

In mid-February, police began an investigation and during the course of that investigation they say a woman was observed stealing nearly $1,500 worth of tools from a Guelph business and then immediately attending a business in Kitchener, where she returned the tools and was given store credit for the full value.

The woman, who is a prohibited driver, was observed driving around Guelph and at times had stolen licence plates attached to her vehicle. She was arrested Tuesday morning after arranging to sell stolen property through a popular website. Searches incident to arrest revealed stolen property and quantities of suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

A 34-year-old is facing 23 charges including several counts of theft, fraud, possessing stolen property, trafficking in stolen property, possessing controlled substances and driving while prohibited.

She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
