On Nov. 30, 2018 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a motel in the area of Silvercreek Parkway and Woodlawn Road in regard to a male with a gun.

(It is alleged that) two males, Stephen Wilson, a 28-year-old Guelph male; and Steven Goldrick, a 27-year-old Guelph male, got into a verbal altercation when Wilson pulled out a gun and threatened Goldrick. At this point, Goldrick and Wilson parted ways and Wilson gave the gun to a third male, Jessie Maresch, a 27-year-old Guelph male. Maresch then took the gun, located Goldrick and threatened him with the gun.

As Wilson and Maresch attempted to leave the motel, Goldrick (allegedly) threatened Maresch with a knife and Wilson got into a cab and left. As this was happening, Jasmine Paynter, a 25-year-old Guelph female, got into a verbal altercation with another female, and Paynter (allegedly) peppered sprayed the female. Wilson was stopped a short distance away in a cab and was arrested.

As a result of this interaction, Wilson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (believed to be fentanyl), uttering threats, weapons dangerous, and three counts of breaching his probation order. Maresch was charged with uttering threats, and weapons dangerous. Goldrick was charged with weapons dangerous. Paynter was charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and failing to comply with a recognizance. Wilson and Paynter were held for bail hearing, while Goldrick and Maresch are to appear in court in January.

Police located a firearm that was a .177 Calibre Crossman BB air pistol. It was located in the motel room of Wilson and Maresch.
