A Guelph man is charged with assault after the owner of a local business was left Friday with a bloody nose.

Just before 11 a.m. Friday Guelph police were patrolling on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street when they were flagged down by a business owner who was arguing with a man and woman outside.

The victim was bleeding from the nose and reported he had been punched by the man, who fled on foot when officers arrived. The man was identified and investigation revealed he is on bail with a condition not to communicate with the woman.

He was arrested early Saturday after returning to the business.

A 41-year-old is charged with assault and breaching a bail condition. He was held for a bail hearing.
