London man arrested for impaired driving

A 22-year-old London man is charged with impaired operation, several driving-related offences and also has his license suspended for 90 days

A London man is facing impaired driving charges following a collision in Guelph early Saturday.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., Guelph Police Service officers were dispatched to a collision in a commercial parking lot in the area of Woolwich Street and Woodlawn Road East. One of the drivers appeared nervous and had difficulty focusing on officers’ questions. Officers detected an odour of alcoholic beverage and asked the male to take a roadside screening test, which resulted in a failure.

He was arrested and taken to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 22-year-old London male is charged with impaired operation and several driving-related offences under the Highway Traffic Act. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court March 4, 2022.
