Man accused of theft brandishes knife when confronted by store staff

Police say he fled on foot after grabbing 15 items from an outdoor clothing rack

On Sept. 6, 2019, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a male entered a clothing store on Eramosa Road.

The suspect selected 15 items from an outdoor clothing rack and fled on foot. When confronted by store staff the suspect threatened them with a knife.

The suspect fled on foot and police were called. A canine unit arrived and located the suspect still on the run. K9 General was deployed and chased the suspect. The suspect eventually surrendered and was arrested. 

A 58-year-old Guelph male was charged with; theft under $5000, Utter threats and breach probation.

The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
