Man arrested after being found with break-in tools

Man had a propane torch and bolt cutters and was wanted on outstanding warrants

A Guelph man was arrested on outstanding warrants after he was observed Tuesday acting suspiciously, Guelph police report.

Guelph police were patrolling in the area of Exhibition Park approximately 11:40 a.m. Tuesday when they observed a male who appeared to be hiding behind a tree with a propane torch in his hand. As officers approached they saw the man gathering his belongings and walking away before climbing a fence into a residential backyard.

He was stopped and found to also have bolt cutters in his possession. He provided a false name but was later identified through police record systems.

A 37-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing break-in instruments, resisting arrest, failing to attend court and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
