A Guelph man was arrested Wednesday after people reported being followed home from downtown earlier this month.

Guelph police say that two females reported they were walking home approximately 2 a.m. July 8 when they noticed a male behind them near Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South who appeared to be following them. The females ran home and had no direct contact with the male.

The early morning of July 11, a male and female also reported a male appeared to be following them in the same area. He followed them to their driveway then appeared to be pacing back and forth until they yelled at him, when he left the area. The descriptions of the male were similar in both incidents.

Guelph police were able to identify the male from surveillance video in the area, and determined he had been breaching earlier release orders by not reporting to a bail supervision program or living where directed by the court.

On Wednesday a 32-year-old Guelph man was arrested for two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
