A Guelph male faces a weapons charge after reports of a male waving a large knife at passing traffic Wednesday evening.
Approximately 6:20 p.m. Guelph police were called to an address on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West. Officers checked the area and located a male matching the description provided by witnesses.
The male was detained and a search of his person revealed a knife with a 15-centimetre blade in his pocket and a slightly smaller knife inside his jacket. Further investigation revealed the male was bound by a release order with a condition not to possess any weapons.
A 43-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a judicial release order. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
