Man charged with racing near school zone

Police say the vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) - On Sept. 10, 2020 at approximately 10:40 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic near a school zone and conducting radar on Fifth Line in the Township of Guelph-Eramosa. The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Atlas NGUYEN, 19-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on December 2, 2020. The vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
