Guelph police say an Ottawa-area male faces a sexual assault charge after a female was grabbed in a downtown establishment early Friday morning.
Just before 1 a.m. police were called to the establishment where they spoke to security staff. An adult female said she had her buttocks grabbed while inside the business. She turned to confront a male, who grabbed her arm causing her purse to rip. The interaction was witnessed by staff who detained the male and removed him from the establishment. There were no reports of physical injuries.
A 22-year-old male from the Ottawa area is charged with sexual assault and mischief. He will appear in a Guelph court Jan. 21.
