A Guelph man faces several charges after someone twice stole from the same north end store.

On Tuesday, police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road West. Staff noted a male attempting to leave the store with approximately $800 in merchandise. The man was confronted by loss prevention staff and advised he was under arrest, however pushed a shopping cart into an employee and fled to a waiting vehicle.

Staff reported the same man was involved in a theft from the store in August when approximately $850 in items were stolen.

Officers attended an address Tuesday afternoon where they located the man and placed him under arrest.

A 52-year-old Guelph male is charged with two counts of theft, assault and escaping lawful custody.
