Guelph Police responded to 664 calls for service in the last 72 hours

The following news release was issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Male arrested on warrants found to be in possession of a weapon and drugs
On Aug. 14, 2020, at approximately 5:05 a.m., Guelph Police were on general patrol on Waterloo Avenue in the City of Guelph when they noticed a male known to be wanted on a Warrant of Arrest.  During a search of the male incident to arrest, Police located a small amount of what is believed to be methamphetamine and a pocket knife.

A 23 year old Guelph male has been charged with Possession for the Purpose Schedule I, Carry Concealed Weapon and Fail to Comply with Undertaking (2 counts).  The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Nov. 24, 2020. 

Break and enter arrest
On Aug. 8, 2020, a storage locker at a residential property on Speedvale Avenue West near Kathleen Street in City of Guelph was forcibly entered and a computer screen and keyboard stolen.  On Aug. 14, 2020, it was discovered the storage locker had been entered a second time and a number of items stolen. 

Police identified and located the suspect along with the stolen property from both incidents on site. The suspect was placed under arrest for Break and Enter (2 counts), Breach Probation (2 counts) and Breach Undertaking (2 counts).   

Further investigation by Guelph Police Detectives determined the suspect was responsible for a number of similar Break and Enters in the same and adjacent building in July and Aug. 2020.  The accused was further charged with Break and Enter (7 counts), Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence and Breach Undertaking.  The accused was held for a Bail Hearing.    

Break and enter
On Aug.16, 2020, Guelph Police responded to the report of a break and enter at a residential complex on Metcalfe Street in the City of Guelph.  Sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., an unknown person removed the screen from an unlocked basement window and gained entry to the complex.  Once inside they stole a Dell Laptop computer and fled from the same window.
