Guelph Police responded to 576 calls for service over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Suspicious person investigation
On Sept. 22, 2020 at 12:59 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service responded to call for service in regards to a suspicious person on a path in the area of Delhi Street, Eramosa Road, Glenhill Place and Pleasant Road in the City of Guelph. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspicious person.

The Guelph Police Service is looking to speak with the male [pictured above] in regards to the incident.

He is described as:
    •    Caucasian
    •    18 to 25 years old
    •    Heavier build
    •    Short brown hair
    •    Wearing a maroon coloured hoodie

Multiple motor vehicles stolen
Some time on Sept. 28, 2020, a white 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was taken from out front of a residence located near the intersection of Gordon Street and Arkell Road in the City of Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to always lock your vehicles and to never leave valuables in your vehicles.

Males arrested during residential break-in
On Oct. 2, 2020 at 10:51 p.m., the Guelph Police Service was notified regarding a break and enter in progress at a residence under renovation located near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road North in the City of Guelph.

At 11:01 p.m., police located two adult males inside the residence and they were subsequently arrested.

A 22-year-old Cambridge male and a 21-year-old Guelph male have been charged with break, enter and commit.

They will appear in court on Dec. 18.

DNA evidence leads to arrest in break-in investigation
Some time between 10 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2018, an adult male entered a fenced compound located near the intersection of Dunlop Drive and Watson Parkway South in the City of Guelph by cutting through the fence. Several items were taken and a screw driver was used to pry open a vending machine.

During investigation, the screw driver was recovered and sent to the Centre Of Forensic Science for analysis, that ultimately resulted in the male being identified.

On Oct. 2, 2020 at 8:28 p.m., police found the male at a residence located near the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West and Edinburgh Road North. He was subsequently arrested.

A 45-year-old Sarnia male has been charged with:
    •    Break, enter and commit
    •    Breach probation

He will appear in court on Dec. 22.
