Motorists work together to stop driver

On Friday, July 27, 2018 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Guelph Police Service received a driving complaint regarding a blue Honda travelling northbound on the Hanlon Parkway, near Stone Road. Several motorists were following a suspected impaired driver. These drivers were able to work together to get the vehicle stopped at the Hanlon Parkway off-ramp to Wellington Road.

Police attended to that location and spoke to the driver. As a result of this investigation, Emma Gazda, a 60-year-old female from Guelph, was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving and refuse to provide breath sample. She was given a Sept. 4, 2018 court date.

As previously mentioned, several citizens worked together to stop this driver in a safe manner. It has been reported to police that eight to 10 vehicles were driving behind the suspect vehicle, all with their hazard lights on. If you are a witness to this incident, please contact Const.
