A Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving Saturday afternoon after police received numerous driving complaints.

Approximately 3:25 p.m. a vehicle struck a concrete barrier outside the LCBO store on Speedvale Avenue East. A witness spoke to the driver and believed him to be impaired. After the vehicle left, a second caller reported it being driven erratically and almost hitting other vehicles.

The vehicle was located at a residence just outside the downtown and officers spoke to a male, who was showing obvious signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where testing revealed he had more than three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 49-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle, which is registered to his ex-wife, was impounded for seven days.
