Guelph police and the Guelph Fire Department are investigating a suspicious fire early Sunday morning at a farm property in the city’s north end.

A passerby reported a large fire approximately 1:20 a.m. at a property on Victoria Road North near the Speed River. A barn structure on the property was engulfed in flames. Investigation revealed the property is owned by the Grand River Conservation Authority and has been unoccupied for several years.

Another barn on the same property was destroyed by fire in May of this year.

Sunday’s fire is considered suspicious. Police would like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the fire or has dashcam footage. Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Phil Perrins of the Guelph Police Service General Investigations and Special Projects unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7336, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
