A Kitchener male was arrested Thursday after arranging to sell stolen property to Guelph police officers.

On March 18, a break and enter was reported at a construction site on Malcolm Road in Guelph. During that incident, approximately $60,000 in damage was done to buildings and equipment and approximately $15,000 in tools and construction equipment was stolen.

Last Friday, the victim advised police he had seen some of the stolen property listed on an online buying and selling website.

On Thursday afternoon, Guelph police officers met with a Kitchener male near his home under the guise of buying some of the equipment. A search warrant was obtained for his residence and additional stolen property was recovered.

A 49-year-old Kitchener male is charged with possessing stolen property, attempting to traffic in stolen property under $5,000 and possessing break-in instruments. He will appear in a Guelph court September 7.
