A Guelph male caught on camera stealing from a former employer faces several criminal charges.

Last month, Guelph police were called to a business on Stone Road West near Edinburgh Road South. A loss prevention officer reported a former employee had defrauded the business several times during March and April by either removing product without scanning it or scanning a much lower-priced item instead.

The total value of the theft and frauds was nearly $1,300. The employee was let go once the deception was discovered.

On Saturday the male was located at a residence in the south end and arrested. A 24-year-old Guelph male is charged with three counts each of theft under $5,000 and fraud under $5,000. He will appear in a Guelph court October 22, 2021.
